"Our sense of what is right and wrong may at times be uncertain. What is indubitably certain is our sense of obligation to answer for our conduct. ... Sensitivity to God is given to a broken heart, to a mind that rises above its own wisdom."

we are not always aware of when a season begins in our lives. sometimes we wake up in the middle of it and wonder how or when did this start? i do know that God is always trying to show us things that we wont understand until we walk thru this particular season with him.. i believe he is always teaching us.
to say that things arent always what they seem, we cant even begin to know what all is being planned...
Ted, what does Heschel's comment mean to you?
For me this quote highlights the subtle but powerful difference between seeking to be "correct" and seeking to be "righteouos". Truth is, I stuggle sometimes with the "right" thing to do. Sometimes the decsions in my life aren't on the scale of "good and evil", but I still want to make the choice that most in line with the heart of God. Remembering my accountability guides me, humbles me, and i honestly feel that in the end...makes me a better person.
