Well it’s here…CHRISTMAS TIME! It’s amazing to me how much this time of year transforms everything around me. But if I’m being honest, it’s not always easy to “keep the main thing the main thing” if you know what I mean. With the onslaught of the commercials and marketing campaigns telling us what we need to be happy, it’s easy to get sidetracked and miss the wonder and awe of the Christmas season. I am on a mission this year to NOT let that happen…both personally and with my family. This longing to recapture the “spirit of Christmas” has led to extended times in study, meditation, and reflection on the events leading up to and surrounding the birth of Jesus as well as what is at the heart of things like wonder and awe. It has already been a humbling and encouraging experience.
God has allowed this to spill over into our local church body here on the “foggy banks” of K-town TN! Beginning December 3rd we (Fellowship Bible Church Knoxville) will be starting a new lesson series at our Sunday gathering. We are going to be walking through Luke 1:1 – 2:20 over the next 4 weeks focusing simply on the supernatural events leading up to the birth of Jesus and the impact these truths have on us today as followers of Jesus. I would also love to share this journey through “Slivers” with anyone that would like to come. I also want to encourage you to be intentional this season in keeping Jesus as the center of your Christmas experience. So during the month of December I will be posting about some of the things uncovered during study, personal prayers and meditations, and would love to hear yours as well. With at little focus, and a lot of help...maybe we all can start 2007 bearing a little more of His image and become agents of change in our world.
