A Little Family Fun & New Hobby

I got a new toy this past Friday and found a new hobby...geocaching. The concept is pretty simple, hidden all over the city are hundreds of "caches". The contents ranch from little trinket-toys to simple log sheets. The coordinantes are logged on a web page and once downloaded to your handy GPS unit the hunt is on (click on the logo to the left for more details). I went on ebay and found a nice, basic hand held GPS unit for relatively cheap. With my new electronic toy in hand the kids and I headed out on Saturday for our first geocaching "treasure hunt". We had a great time walking in the park, down trails, just enjoying the outdoors and pretending we were treasure hunters on a great quest. On Sunday we had dinner with some dear friends from church and they joined us on a hunt (you can check out the pics HERE). We talked, laughed, worked as a team, and just had fun. Along with the joy of just being with the family it was good in some small way to be reminded that there is a lot more aournd us then we see with casual eyes.
