Favorite books of 2006

Some of the books I enjoyed this past year...

  • God in Search of Man – Abraham Heschel
  • Confessions of a Reformission Rev – Mark Driscoll
  • Blink – Malcolm Gladwell
  • Emotionally Healthy Spirituality – Peter Scazzero
  • Restoring the Christian Soul – Leanne Payne
  • Working the Angles – Eugene Peterson
  • Gospel According to Moses - Athol Dickson
  • Expect the Unexpected, or You Won't Find It - Roger Von Oech

Any recommendations for 2007?

thanks Ryan, I've been wanting to check out Wilbur's book...your prompting was what I needed.

We hope to see you guys this year, and can't wait to meet the little guy!

Hey bro, no...i didn't make passion this year, but I have seen a couple of the main session. I do know some students that went and they said it was awesome.

I forgot to answer the question yesterday...

Untamed- Xan Hood -> This was written by a guy from UT that I met when there. You might want to use it with some of the students at FBC.

Connecting- Larry Crabb -> I studied this one last fall and it may be my favorite book.

The Wild Man's Journey- Richard Rohr -> I am reading this now. Some interesting thoughts on manhood.

ted - good list.
I can't go after anything there yet, cause I still have to read Heschel first!

Of course, I'd recommend anything by Wendell Berry (which it looks like you're reading!), The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne, and How (not) to Speak of God by Peter Rollins.

I am about to begin reading some John Caputo too. I'm gonna try to make it to the Emergent Theological Conversation up in Philly in April - Caputo is the main guest. We'll see!

Thanks for the recommendations, and yes...Berry really is great, thanks for giving me the heads up. I’ve been looking at the other two for a while now…they are definitely on my list for 2007!

I'm looking forward to "Listening to the Beliefs of the Emerging Church’". Keep me posted on if you will be attending Philly in April, I look forward to hearing what you experience.

Check out "The Joy of Spiritual Growth" by Frank Rose and Bob Maginel. Very practical!
